Last days to apply for SPELL/ING as part of the CalArts Reef Residency 2023: this opportunity to exhibit work at The Reef (downtown LA) is managed and curated by Irene Gil-Ramon (Film/Video 22) and Julia Sáenz-Lorduy (Creative Writing 22). We are accepting current or previous works that engage words as material for shapeshifting, art as spell-casting and language as becoming.We seek seeks visual art, music, writing, video, performance, and multidisciplinary pieces which explore language as a conjuring, working with ensorcelling as a practice of creating a reality different to this one, of confronting the unknown, and of becoming.
All selected artists will be economically compensated, and their work will be promoted online and with a subsequent print and digital art book that will be made after the show.
