Gary Mairs has taught in the School of Film/Video since 1997. He teaches courses in Film History (including seminars on the Western, Rock and Roll movies, Realist style and ‘70s genre film) and workshops in narrative editing. He served as co-Head of the Film Directing Program from 2005-2013, Associate Dean from 2010-2016 and interim Dean in 2009.
He has worked as an editor and assistant editor. His films as a director include All That She Surveys, The Hemingway Night, Mom and Memory/Lies. They have played at festivals including Rotterdam, Courtisane, Zinebi, Lume, Palm Springs and San Diego Underground.
